Location:
Warrawagine Cattle Co is based in the East Pilbara Region of Western Australia. The Station is located between Marble Bar and Broome, in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia. Access to fabulous waterfalls and fishing spots.
The Company:
A privately owned cattle company. The stations run approximately 35,000 head of Droughtmaster cattle across the two properties and irrigate and cut hay from the centre pivot operations. They have a large array of modern machinery, plant and facilities and use motorbikes at all times. Supportive management and mentorship, who are open to all levels of experience.
The Role:
We are looking for a Head Stockperson; to work as 2IC to our General Manager and be based at Warrawagine Station and work closely with our Management team at both Warrawagine and Wallal Downs Station. The Head Stockperson will supervise and lead a team of eight staff, and will be responsible for running the day to day activities of the stockcamp.
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate for this role will be an innovative thinker ready to take on a challenge.
Your key responsibilities will include:
• Overseeing of Livestock including but not limited to all mustering, drafting and processing of breeders and weaners. Always ensuring that animal welfare is maintained at a high level, including the day to day care of weaners and cattle on hand.
• Mentoring and leadership of a young team.
• Record all data as required and maintain the station standards and records.
• Responsible for all Motorbike Maintenance thus ensuring the standard of our motorbikes supplied is maintained.
• Oversight of Fences – ensure that all fences are maintained and repaired at all times
You will possess the following skills and experience:
• Experience and knowledge with data recording programs, machine maintenance, handling of motorbikes.
• Strong focus on safety and animal welfare
• Initiative and Problem-solving skills
• Motivated and hard-working, willing to be part of, and foster a great station culture.
• Capable of following the detailed mustering program and working with the manager to achieve the expectations of the program
